A 100% Nebbiolo Barolo assembled from vineyards around Serralunga d'Alba at roughly 300–350 metres altitude. Giovanni Rosso ferments the wine on skins for around 25 days in concrete before ageing it for 18–36 months, depending on vintage, in large 50hl French oak casks.

What it’s like

Palate

Classic Nebbiolo: raspberry, plum, rose and pepper with cocoa/chocolate and savoury mineral notes. The 2019 has youthful tension and energy but considerable finesse; the palate is juicy and savoury with structured tannin.

Monster Notes

Barolo at S$97 — now we have my attention. Don't expect soft, fruity red wine. Nebbiolo has acidity and tannin and sometimes needs a bit of patience. But that's also why it's so good with rich food. Give this two hours of air, get some braised beef or roast duck and suddenly S$97 looks very sensible.
