A Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé) Pauillac and one of the appellation's great historic estates. The 2011 is 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Merlot. Pichon Baron's Grand Vin comes from the estate's oldest vines on its historic plots, and this vintage is increasingly accessible while retaining excellent ageing potential.

Monster Notes
Pichon Baron is proper Pauillac — Second Growth, Cabernet-driven and built to age. 2011 doesn't have the hype of 2009 or 2010, which can actually be a good thing when you're buying. Now it's opening up nicely and you get that mature Bordeaux character without waiting another decade. Give it some air, put beef on the table and enjoy.
