A Fifth Growth Pauillac whose reputation has long exceeded the modest rank implied by its 1855 classification. The 2011 blend is 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot, aged for 15 months in French oak, 65% new. The vintage combines ripe fruit, fine plump tannins and freshness with classic balance.

We already have the 2009 Lynch-Bages at S$367. This 2011 is S$272 and quite a different proposition. Less powerful, more classical and almost S$95 cheaper. If you want the blockbuster, take 2009. If you just want a very good mature Lynch-Bages for dinner, honestly I think this one deserves a look.
