2021 Le Petit Cheval Blanc, 75cl

Château Cheval Blanc is one of the most prestigious wine estates in Bordeaux, located in the Saint-Émilion appellation. It holds the coveted status of Premier Grand Cru Classé A, the highest ranking in Saint-Émilion’s classification system, which reflects its consistent production of world-class wines. Although renowned primarily for its red wine, Château Cheval Blanc's white wine is a rare and exciting addition to its portfolio.

In 2014, Château Cheval Blanc released its first white wine, named Le Petit Cheval Blanc. The decision to produce white wine was a departure from the estate’s tradition, and it has been met with great anticipation given Cheval Blanc’s expertise in red winemaking. This white wine is made under the Bordeaux Blanc designation rather than being a Saint-Émilion wine.

Le Petit Cheval Blanc is made from Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon grapes. This blend is typical of the great white wines of Bordeaux, particularly in the Graves and Pessac-Léognan regions, but it's less common for Saint-Émilion estates.

REFERENCE TASTING NOTE:

High aromatics, this is succulent and savoury, delicate, with a finely-balanced mix of acidity and flesh, saline and mouthwatering, apricot pit, white pear, eges of bitter anis and fennel, a brilliant white wine. Long ageing in an array of demi-muys, oak casks, nothing in traditional Bordeaux barrels. 3.2ph. Drink 2024 - 2034
