Château Pichon Baron is a prestigious Second Growth estate located in Pauillac.
One of the key features that makes Château Pichon Baron wines special is the terroir. The 73-hectare vineyard is primarily planted with Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) and Merlot (35%), along with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The estate is known for its meticulous plot-by-plot selection, ensuring that only the best grapes from the oldest vines are used for its flagship wine, the "Grand Vin de Château Pichon Baron.
The style of Pichon Baron wines is rich, full-bodied, and highly structured, with deep flavors of black fruit, spices, and tobacco. The wines are noted for their ability to age well, often improving over decades.
REFERENCE TASTING NOTE:
This has muscle, but is fleshy and almost creamy along the edges, with a very dense core of plum, blackberry and cassis waiting in reserve. A sleek iron edge cruises in on the finish and adds some serious length.
