2010 Chateau Duhart-Milon, 75cl

Château Duhart-Milon, located in the Pauillac appellation of Bordeaux, is renowned for its exceptional wines and rich history. It is a "Fourth Growth" (Quatrième Cru Classé) wine under the 1855 Bordeaux classification, which already places it among the elite vineyards of the region.

The estate is closely associated with the legendary Château Lafite Rothschild, as both are owned by the Rothschild family. In fact, the vineyards of Duhart-Milon are situated next to Lafite Rothschild’s, and the expertise from Lafite has greatly enhanced the quality of the wines produced at Duhart-Milon over the years.

The wines of Château Duhart-Milon are primarily composed of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, giving them a rich, full-bodied structure. They are known for their elegance, balance, and aging potential. The wines often exhibit classic Pauillac characteristics, such as dark fruit flavors (blackcurrant, blackberry), cedar, tobacco, and earthy undertones, with refined tannins that allow them to improve over decades.

REFERENCE TASTING NOTE:

Dense purple, with classic notes of cedar and lead pencil shavings as well as gobs of back currants and licorice, the wine has a full-bodied mouthfeel with fabulous precision and density. It also possesses a long, silky finish with moderately high tannins, but they are ripe and well-integrated. The wood is clearly pushed to the background in this dense, full-bodied Pauillac, which should drink beautifully for 30+ years.
