2009 Chateau Lynch-Bages, 75cl

Château Lynch-Bages is a prestigious wine estate and a 5ème Cru Classé, is one of the best-known Médoc estates. This legendary estate is celebrated for its exceptional red wines, which are crafted primarily from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot grapes. The 90 hectares of vineyards lie on deep gravel beds over limestone. Lynch Bages can be surprisingly soft and approachable when young. However, when fully mature, it develops a succulent richness and a heavenly bouquet of minty blackcurrants and cigar boxes.

Lynch-Bages wine often exhibit remarkable complexity and depth. Layers of flavors develop over time, revealing nuances of spices, mocha, and earthy undertones that add to their overall richness. Thanks to their structured tannins and balanced acidity, Château Lynch-Bages wines have excellent aging potential, often evolving beautifully over decades and gaining additional layers of complexity.

REFERENCE TASTING NOTE:

The medium to deep garnet colored 2009 Lynch Bages is boldly scented of crme de cassis, blackberry pie and baked plums with chocolate box, incense and underbrush suggestions plus a waft of bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, taut and well sustained in the mouth, it has a firm, grainy texture and a lively backbone lifting the black fruit core to a nice long finish. Drink 2019 - 2044

Grilled Ribeye Steak or Beef Tenderloin, Roasted or braised lamb, Beef Bourguignon, Oxtail Stew, Duck Breast, Aged Cheddar or Comté, Strong cheeses like Stilton or Roquefort, Mushroom Risotto.Decant the wine for at least 1-2 hours.
