Château Brane-Cantenac is a distinguished estate located in the renowned Margaux appellation of Bordeaux. Classified as a Deuxième Cru (Second Growth) in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification.
Château Brane-Cantenac’s iconic plateau is entirely situated on the exceptional Terrace 4. This area is renowned for producing wines with richer, denser fruit and more structured tannins, ideal for aging. Terrace 4 is characterized by a sandy surface layered with large gravel stones and a deep subsoil of gravel mixed with 10-20% clay. This unique terroir imparts a distinctive style to the wines: silky yet textured, elegant yet powerful.
REFERENCE TASTING NOTE:
I have loved this wine on many occasions, and I love it here again. This is not a wine that is hiding its age - there are already some tertiary notes developing - and you'll find younger-looking 2005s, but it has a generosity of spirit, a succulence to its fruit, and a hauntingly fresh menthol edge to the finish that is really beautiful. Mouthwatering brilliance. 45% of production.
