Château Lynch-Bages is a celebrated Fifth Growth (Cinquième Cru) estate from the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Despite its Fifth Growth ranking, Lynch-Bages has built a reputation for producing wines that often rival higher-ranked estates in quality, earning it a status of a "super second."
The wines of Lynch-Bages are typically rich, full-bodied, and highly structured, with a characteristic boldness that defines Pauillac wines. They offer flavors of blackcurrant, blackberry, cedar, and tobacco, complemented by earthy and spicy notes. Lynch-Bages wines are known for their powerful tannic structure and longevity, allowing them to age gracefully for decades. Over time, the wines develop complex secondary flavors like leather, truffle, and cigar box.
Lynch-Bages is known for its consistency in producing top-quality wines across both great and challenging vintages. It consistently ranks among the finest wines of Bordeaux, regardless of its Fifth Growth classification
REFERENCE TASTING NOTE:
This has nice weight and intensity, with a solid core of plum, blackberry and cassis that's offset by a racy, spicy frame. Very sleek through the finish, with latent depth in reserve.
