Essence de Dourthe is a remarkable wine that showcasing the pinnacle of what the esteemed Dourthe estates can achieve. Created as a special cuvée, Essence de Dourthe is a blend of the finest grapes from the best parcels of Dourthe's vineyards, meticulously selected to craft a wine of unparalleled quality and distinction.
What makes Essence de Dourthe truly special is its extraordinary attention to detail and the exceptional care taken at every step of its production. Essence de Dourthe is not just a wine; it is a testament to the artistry and dedication of the Dourthe winemakers. While 400 hi were produced from the 14 hectares of wines reserved for Essence, only 53 hl were selected and available in 6200 bottles, 150 magnums and 100 double-magnums.
REFERENCE TASTING NOTE:
Highly attractive, intense colour. Powerful on the nose, the wine exudes intense ripe, fresh fruit aromas of black cherries, which blend seamlessly with notes of spice, liquorice and mint. Soft, long and full on the palate, underpinned by refined tannins. The aromatic and refreshing fleshy character coats the well-balanced structure, before the long, delicately spiced finish. The richness and complexity of Essence 2009, at this stage of the wine’s development, would benefit from airing for two hours before drinking.
